Our philosophy
At Lean Fish we firmly believe that achieving quality and sustainable fisheries is essential both for consumers and for the future of the industry itself. As a consequence, we buy fish exclusively from smaller coastal vessels engaged in smaller catches of excellent quality. The fishermen connected to our plant come from families that for generations have been handling fish carefully to deliver the best quality. Lean Fish aims to assist in keeping up this tradition while meeting the changing market demands. We try to use the vast amount of information vested in our local village to always improve our products, and pass the traditional production methods on to our new co-workers. We also accept all kinds of fish species to avoid waste at sea, we do not want the fishermen to throw over board fish of perfect quality, just because it is the wrong size or species.
We maintain close relationships with our customers, exporting our fish directly abroad without middlemen. This allows us to customise our products in line with the market needs. Stockfish from Lean Fish, as well as our other seafood products, represents the essence of sustainable natural resource exploitation, as sought after by the market.
