Plaice (Pleuronectes platessa)
Plaice is a flatfish that is smooth and brown with numerous characteristic reddish spots. It is found on depths down to 250 meters and caught mainly using gill nets. The main season is from July to December. Plaice is an excellent and widely used food fish.
